What People Say About Us
"Thank you to every member of the Canterbury staff for all your assistance and guidance with getting our mother moved and settled. She’s taken to it wonderfully and has already been meeting people and making friends. Her outlook on life is more positive and happier than has been the case in quite a long time.
The way everyone has welcomed her and made all of our family feel like part of the community has been wonderful. The entire family has been impressed with the whole experience and we all feel so much better knowing our mother is in such a safe, caring and happy place."
“Things I like about this place: feels like home, friendly, capable staff, the residents themselves—my friends and neighbours, the many well-planned activities. I find the dining areas are friendly gathering places with one’s choice of where to sit and has a varied menu to choose from. There’s always bound to be people gathering somewhere and something to do close by. I feel safe here—never lonely. The people are what makes it so good – both the staff and my fellow residents – who are very welcoming to any new residents.”
“Canterbury Place has been my home for the past five years. A spacious two-bedroom suite for the first three years and now a compact, cozy one-bedroom suite serves my needs. The advantages I have by living on the 16th floor west side are spectacular views and magnificent sunsets.
The wide variety of available daily activities cater to resident’s level of interest and mobility range. Lots of special events add to the enjoyment with exciting trips, tours and tastings.
Cheerful, professional staff members in all departments ensure we can always feel confident, safe and part of a happy environment.
It’s always a great day at Canterbury Place!”
"Recently, on a lovely summer afternoon, I was enjoying a quiet read in my living room area, when I was impressed with how much God has blessed me with the privilege of living in such a beautiful retirement residence.
All the servers in the dining room are one of Canterbury’s greatest assets. All of these vibrant and courteous servers do an absolutely fabulous job everyday. Seeing them all brightens the beginning of each day for me. The kitchen staff do a great job of attending to a wide variety of tastes and requests. I am vegetarian, and they go out of their way to accommodate my diet preferences.
Each week, my suite is meticulously cleaned and left in immaculate shape. As well, the dedicated nursing staff are to be commended for the fine services that they professionally provide. The amount of work that the Life Enrichment team does every month in preparing the programs and calendar is daunting to say the least. Each month, the offerings of delightful trips are always impressive.
The staff at the front desk are an absolute delight. What a lovely impression they give to any person arriving at Canterbury. What more can I say about this wonderful retirement residence. Canterbury is a gem!"
“The best move I ever made was coming to Canterbury Place. As soon as I saw the accommodations I knew I wanted to live here. There are so many activities, the staff are so pleasant and helpful, and the meals are delicious. I’ve never regretted the move. I soon formed special relationships with other residents and participated in many of the social activities, my favourite: the round table political discussions they host. This place is a happy one.”
“My mother chose very wisely when she picked Canterbury Place. I honestly cannot say enough about the staff. The care, kindness and patience that you all possess and demonstrate daily is heartwarming to experience. Every single staff member regardless of their role, is a credit to your organization.”
"It is hard to put into words how thankful I am that Wendy was under the care of the Canterbury staff during this time when I had no physical access to be with her.
Your tireless endless hours devoted to the comfort and safety of the residents was unsurpassed.
In all the ways you had to adapt I stand in awe, starting with but not ending with Gary pulling off 3 meals a day delivered to each suite day after day and still going strong. I award you all the medal of honour and hopefully soon the medal of freedom.
As we are all living a day to day existence now it is hard to say if things will ever revert back to what we thought was our normal way of life, or out of this we adapt a “new” normal in which case we can make it better than before. Canterbury Place is expanding, new faces are arriving to add to the remarkable staff already on hand, and as Wendy would tell you her sister is a “star” person and I see in Canterbury’s future nothing but gold star days."
"I would just like to express my thanks to all the staff at Canterbury Place for your hard work and dedication to ensure the safety of your residents. My aunt- Enola Czech is very fortunate during this challenging time of COVID-19 to have such caring people looking after her. As a frontline worker, I know how trying our efforts have been in keeping everyone safe especially our elderly population. All staff should be proud of their efforts to date.
May you and your family be blessed with continued good health. And we will as a country continue to be vigilant in our efforts to continue to keep the curve down.
Bless you all!"
"To all the wonderful staff at Canterbury Place.
We would like to thank you so very much for all your wonderful work and care given to our Mom, since she arrived in Canterbury.
On February 24th, we celebrated her 101th birthday in the 2nd floor's dining room and we were really overwhelmed at the love care and help that you during such special celebration. She just loved her birthday party
I know that we, the family, have had many demands and requests on an ongoing basis, as the time goes on, but all of you have show such good will and have been so incredibly helpful to allow her to keep living with dignity and pride, and to keep her safe and secure.
These past months have been so trying for everybody, and yet, you all seem to navigate it so graciously, showing compassion and helping day after day the residents, to ensure that they can get over the difficulties as well as possible.
Thank you so much to all of you. May you all keep safe, healthy and please note, you all make a huge difference, not only in the life of the residents but on the lives of their families also.
God bless you all."
